The CountyCoordinator is responsible in assisting the CountyCommission with their activities and write, seek and administrate grant funding, etc. It is the goal of the coordinator’s office to keep you updated on CountyCommission financed projects in Hardy County, West Virginia.
CampPinnacle- Much needed improvements were needed at the 4-H camp. This project was made possible through funding from the WV Department of Agriculture.
Mountaineer Treeways and Communi-Tree Program: A community project to plant needed trees in the parks. The project was made possbile with funding from the WV Division of Forestry and The Potomac Valley Conservation District and most of all the hard work from our community.
CWID Exercise- Is Hardy County Ready? to receive an influx of people, Western Migration. This exercise was funded by Homeland Security.
Interoperative Communications- Communication project that will allow us to communicate with other counties as well as federal and state agencies. This project will be a great assest to Hardy County in times of emergency. Funding for the project was obtain through Homeland Security.
Homeland Security Equipment- a project to purchase needed equipment for the Office of Emergency Services/ 911. The equipment will be used for emergency evacuation or western migration. Funding for the equipment was obtain through Homeland Security.
Courthouse Conference Room- funding was sought to purchase needed conference room and training equipment that can be used for meetings such as HDTV/ monitor and recorder, GPS Unit, Labtop Interface, etc. Funding was obtained through the Alliance Corporation and the Hardy County Commission.
Elevator Upgrade- replacement of the outdated circuit board in the Courthouse Elevator. Funding was obtained through the Courthouse Facility Improvement grant with a 20% match by Hardy County Commission.
HVAC- Finally it is not to hot or cold in the Courthouse from extreme heating problems. The County Commission sought funding for a new furnance for the Hardy County Courthouse and was able to secured funding through the WV Courthouse Facilities Improvement Authority with a 20% match by the Hardy County Commission.
Eastern WV Community and Technical College - funding was sought for a water line extension for the new Eastern WV Community and Technical College. The County Commission was able to obtain funds for the project through the WV Development Office.
Judical Filing System - Grant funding was sought for a scanning system and roller shelving for the Circuit Clerk's vault. The scanning system will allow digital images of the judical public records. The County Commission was able to obtain funds for the project through the Community Participant Grant Program.
Circuit Clerk Office Shelving - Grant funding was sought for purchasing manuel track shelving for the over crowded Circuit Clerk's vault. $8,440 dollars was obtained through the Records Management Grant for fiscal year 09-10.
Day Report Center - Grant funding was sought for a Day Report Center for Hardy and Hampshire Counties which is purposed by the Probation Office to cut regional jail expenses. Funding was obtained through DCJS in the amount of $130,000.
Baker Industrial Park - The construction of a 350 GPM surface water treatment plant to treat water stored in Lost River Dam Site 10, located near Baker, a water storage tank and approximately 20,000 linear feet of water distribution lines to serve the Baker Industrial and Business Park is being funded in part by a $3.748 million Economic Development Administration (EDA) grant. The federal stimulus money for this project is expected to improve the marketability of the Baker Industrial and Business Park which in turn means job creation and new business and industry developments while also providing necessary and needed public infrastructure in this area of Hardy County, West Virginia. The grant is supported by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA).
